On the plus side, the US is once again looking at large valuation gains on its external portfolio. So the US – in aggregate -- can finance its deficits in large part by borrowing against the rising value of its external assets.

Watch out should America's creditors ever realize that they are getting taken to the cleaners, year in and year out.
