Nigeria Security Tracker: Weekly Update November 15-November 21

Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from November 15 to November 21, 2014. These incidents will be included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

• November 16: A bomb in Katagum, Bauchi killed thirty-one, including the suicide bombers and a suspected insurgent lynched by a mob. Boko Haram is suspected.
• November 16: Ijaw youths abducted fourteen journalists in Warri, Delta.
• November 16: Boko Haram invaded Hong, Adamawa, killing twenty-four.
• November 16: Boko Haram kidnapped thirteen female farmers in Damboa, Borno.
• November 16: Communal violence in Lafia, Nasarawa led to the deaths of twenty in Shabu and five in Alakyo.
• November 16: The military reclaimed Chibok, Borno from Boko Haram. No casualty figures were given.
• November 18: Security forces killed twelve in Lafia, Nasarawa. But reports conflicted as to whether the victims were gunmen or innocent traders.
• November 18: The military recaptured Gombi, Hong, and Pelia in Adamawa. Ten soldiers were killed along with four hundred insurgents.
• November 19: Boko Haram attacked Mafa, Borno, killing forty-five.
• November 20: Police fired tear gas at Nigerian legislators who scaled the parliament fence after a lockout.
