Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from May 6 to May 12, 2017. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents will be included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

  • May 13: Three suicide bombers killed themselves and one other at UNIMAID in Maiduguri, Borno. Boko Haram is suspected.
  • May 13: Nigerian troops killed four Boko Haram food vendors in Mobbar, Borno. One soldier was also killed.
  • May 13: Sectarian violence led to twenty-seven deaths in Mokwa, Niger.
  • May 13: Boko Haram killed six farmers and lost four of their own in Maiduguri, Borno.
  • May 14: Sectarian violence led to five deaths in Paikoro, Niger.
  • May 14: Sectarian violence led to twleve deaths in Bali, Taraba.
  • May 15: Three Boko Haram suicide bombers killed themselves and two others in Konduga, Borno.

  • May 18: Three suicide bombers killed themselves but no others at UNIMAID in Maiduguri, Borno. Boko Haram is suspected.
