Charles G. Boyd Becomes President and CEO of Business Executives for National Security

March 4, 2002 – Stanley A. Weiss, Founder and Chairman of Business Executives for National Security (BENS), announced today that General Charles G. Boyd, USAF (Ret.), will join BENS as President and Chief Executive Officer on May 1, 2002.
BENS, headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a nationwide nonpartisan organization and the primary channel through which senior business executives can affect national security policy. “As one of the intellectual pioneers of homeland security and a tireless advocate for better business practices at the Pentagon, General Boyd is the perfect choice to lead BENS in fostering innovative partnerships between government and business to meet the new threats of the 21st century,” said Weiss.

Boyd leaves his current position as Senior Vice President and Washington Program Director of the Council on Foreign Relations, but will remain with the Council as the Henry A. Kissinger Fellow for National Security and European Affairs, and as Executive Director of the Council’s Task Force on Terrorism until the conclusion of its work this summer. “Chuck has done a terrific job as Washington Program Director. We’ll miss him in that capacity, but we’re thrilled he will continue in these other roles,” said Council President Leslie H. Gelb.
Gelb also announced that Anne Luzzatto, Vice President of the Council’s New York Meetings Program, will be Acting Director of the Washington Program for a transitional period. Nancy Bodurtha, Associate Director of Meetings in New York will assume greater operational duties during this interim period in New York.
